At the art gallery that I work at, I have been going through accession files. I found a series of miniatures that had letters from relatives asking what color the subjects’ eyes were. Isn’t that strange?
Other strange things today–a few quotes about a woman:
“She considers a lady without virtue a monster on earth; and every accomplishment without morals, as polite deception.”
“However strong may be her desire of useful information, or however lively her curiosity, yet she restrains these passions within the pounds of prudence and good breeding.”
“Her gentle soul is never disturbed with discontent, envy, or resentment; those turbulent passions which so often destroy the peace of society as well as of individuals.”
And finally, a sickening realization that most of the men educated men around the time of the American Revolution bounced between the ivies.
