These images are just about the only ones I could find of Marek Koniecny’s work online. I can’t remember how I found out about him. But I’m sure I saw these first, and then found a photograph of his at a group show at Andrea Rosen that I loved and loved even more after knowing these things were made by the same person.
These are the ultimate joke paintings, and they function like the type of painting they are mocking–they are decorative abstractions, that really show the makers “hand.”
The photograph I saw in the group show seemed to be of a person cloaked in gold lame, walking against a very blue sky, with winds blowing all over. It looked like a mirage.
