Man Push Cart (2005) Ramin Bahrani
I watched this with Sarah. At one point she shouted, "This man's life is just tragedy after tragedy!" and at one point I yelled at the TV, "God, every culture has BROS!"
We both couldn't watch the follow-up CHOP SHOP right after-- will save it for tomorrow before I have to return them to Cinefile.
I'm grateful to Bahrani so far. The story and the indignities that Ahmad experiences ring true. I got both films to see if I wanted to pay $12 to see Bahrani's new film, 99 HOMES because I felt suspicious of the sensational content/premise of the film. After watching Man Push Cart, I feel like I can trust him and go see 99 HOMES open to what it has to offer.
